Thanks Prof Sela.
My biopsy was done TRUS; I have an artificial hip and the metal doesn't allow any meaningful MRI
At the biopsy we had 12 samples taken, 3 of which were positive.
At my age, 72, considering all the side effects of any treatment, radiation or total proctatectomy, does it make any sense to do any thing at all? I appreciate your opnion and the time you take to respond.
Shalom to all, I am 72 years old, live in the US and found out I have prostate cancer
PSA levels from 2006 went up from 4 to 15, slowly, sometimes going down too. Prostate size 90 gr. - no problem in urinating. At PSA 6 a biopsy was negative; 5 years later at PSA 8 - another negative biopsy. In August 2018 - PSA 12 - we got a positive biopsy, 3+4 in one location and 3+3 in two other locations.4K score was 46%.Polaris test of the 3+4 area were: When considering active sureillance - 10 years prostate cancer Disease Spesific Mortality (DSM) is 3.9%, with conserative management. But with radiation and/or radical prostatectomy the % goes down to 1.4.My question is - being 72, does the difference justify any action or should I just stay on active-surveilance mode ?.
